I have been thinking lately on what it means to be hungry for God. There are many promises throughout the Bible that God will satisfy the hungry soul. Here are just a few verses about God filling or satisfying the soul that is hungry and that has set there face to seek Him.
Proverbs 19:23 23
The fear of the LORD leads to life, And he who has it will abide in satisfaction; He will not be visited with evil.
Matthew 5:6
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled(satisfied).
Jeremiah 31:25
25 For I have satisfied the weary soul, and I have replenished(satisfied) every sorrowful soul.”
Psalms 107: 4-9
4 They wandered in the wilderness in a desolate way; They found no city to dwell in. 5 Hungry and thirsty,Their soul fainted in them. 6 Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, And He delivered them out of their distresses. 7 And He led them forth by the right way, That they might go to a city for a dwelling place. 8 Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men! 9 For He satisfies the longing soul, And fills the hungry soul with goodness.
Do you fill empty and without purpose in your life. God desires to fill you and show you your purpose which is simply to love him with your whole heart. (When you love God with your whole heart He will show you the details of your purpose and calling as needed I promise.)
I believe the only requirement to God satisfying you is a hunger for Him. Having a hunger for God simply means you desire for God to be in your life through manifesting His Glory! A hunger for the lost, a hunger to see revival, a hunger just to be in the Presence of God and draw closer to Him. a hunger for prayer, a hunger for the Word of God. Do these desires seem foreign to you well maybe you are so full of this world that you have no real hunger for God. Many so called Christians do not have any real hunger for God because they are so full of this world. They have replaced God with their own selfish lusts. They have time to watch TV, go shopping, read secular books, surf the web, check facebook,twitter, and myspace but wonder why they don't have a hunger for God. They (WE) must empty our lives of all this junk and begin feeding our Spiritual man with prayer,fasting, the Word, worship, intercession, and just simply thinking about the character of God. God will fill the hungry heart. Begin crying out to God in prayer for a fresh infilling/baptism of the Holy Ghost and He will satisfy your heart. Decide today to become satisfied in God rather than the temporal things of this world that only leave you filling empty and void. This requires you emptying yourself of this world (basically repent of your sin) and turning to God to satisfy you.
