Revival follows Humility!

Isaiah 57:14-15
57:14 And shall say, Cast ye up, cast ye up, prepare the way, take up the stumblingblock out of the way of my people.57:15 For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name [is] Holy; I dwell in the high and holy [place], with him also [that is] of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

I believe the stumblingblock that needs to be removed is pride. Many translations use the word obstruction or obstacle. Pride is the stumblingblock, obstruction that stands between us and God. Pride hinders us from true REVIVAL!

Pride is a haughty attitude, selfish ambition, lustful fleshly mindset. Pride causes you to be self centered rather than Christ centered. Pride was the sin that caused satan and 1/3 of the angels to be cast out of heaven. Pride whispers in your ear you don't need God. You can do this yourself. Pride has many faces and maybe in another post we will talk about them. For the sake of this post just know that prideful self centered thinking will keep you from REVIVAL!

James 4:6
4:6 But he (GOD)  giveth more grace (REVIVAL) . Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace (REVIVAL) unto the humble.

Pride is the enemy of REVIVAL, But God gives MORE grace MORE REVIVAL to the HUMBLE! REVIVAL FOLLOWS HUMILITY!

We must humble ourselves before God. Pride is something everyone deals with I believe this post will help you learn to deal with pride and enter into a place of humility where REVIVAL will surely follow! John Piper said until you are shunned with the reality that the only thing God owes you is Hell. You can never understand Humility, grace or His love.

Isaiah 57:15
57:15 For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name [is] Holy; I dwell in the high and holy [place], with him also [that is] of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

The high and lofty One is the only source of TRUE REVIVAL! Revival can't be produced by great music, great preaching, or even great leadership. But God, the One who dwells in eternity, the One who is, was, and is to come. He can and will produce REVIVAL!

John 1: 1-3
1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God. 1:3 All things were made through him; and without him was not anything made that hath been made.

John 1:14
1:14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us (and we beheld his glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father), full of grace and truth.

We must understand the humility of Jesus Christ. God became man to bring about salvation (REVIVAL) in the hearts of men. GOD BECAME MAN.

Just as there was nothing created that wasn't created by Him there will be no Revival that is not created by Him. God did not come to earth just to live but he came to earth to die (HUMILITY) and rise again (REVIVAL) on the third day.

Philippians 2: 1-11
2:1If there is therefore any exhortation in Christ, if any consolation of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any tender mercies and compassions, 2:2 make full my joy, that ye be of the same mind, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind; 2:3 `doing' nothing through faction or through vainglory, but in lowliness of mind each counting other better than himself; 2:4 not looking each of you to his own things, but each of you also to the things of others. 2:5 Have this mind in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 2:6 who, existing in the form of God, counted not the being on an equality with God a thing to be grasped, 2:7 but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men; 2:8 and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, becoming obedient `even' unto death, yea, the death of the cross. 2:9 Wherefore also God highly exalted him, and gave unto him the name which is above every name; 2:10 that in the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of `things' in heaven and `things' on earth and `things' under the earth, 2:11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Christ is our example of humility. Much can be said here but I want you to see the results of the humility of Jesus.  He emptied or humbled Himself to the point of death on the cross then look what follows exalting, resurrection sounds like REVIVAL to me! REVIVAL ALWAYS FOLLOWS HUMILITY!

Isaiah57:15
57:15For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name [is] Holy; I dwell in the high and holy [place], with him also [that is] of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

This great BIG, HOLY, ETERNAL, LOVING, COMPASSIONATE, AWESOME, GOD. This God dwells/ lives with the contrite, broken, humble folks. God has an open invitation to all the HUMBLE COME JOIN ME IN REVIVAL!  All we have to do according to this verse is be broken contrite and humble and we can come dwell with the KING, oh yeah and the KING IS IN REVIVAL!

What does humility look like in our lives?

Romans 6: 6-8
6:6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with `him', that the body of sin might be done away, that so we should no longer be in bondage to sin; 6:7 for he that hath died is justified from sin. 6:8 But if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him;

Acts 2:38
2:38 And Peter `said' unto them, Repent (HUMILITY) ye, and be baptized (HUMILITY) every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ unto the remission of your sins; and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit(REVIVAL).

Luke 9:23
9:23 And he said to [them] all, If any [man] will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
Acts 3:19
3:19 Repent (HUMILITY) ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing (REVIVAL) shall come from the presence of the Lord;
                                                                                  Repentance & dying to self

The Christian who is walking in humility lives a lifestyle of repentance and dying to self. Humility will cause you to love God more than you love this present world. Humility causes you to love others more than your self.

2 Chronicles 7:14
7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin (REVIVAL), and will heal their land (REVIVAL).

Prayer & seeking the face of God

The humble pray, seek God, and turn away from sin and God promises revival will follow.

GOD STILL DESIRES FOR HIS CHURCH TO BE IN HOLY GHOST REVIVAL ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS TURN TO HIM IN PRAYER. HE WILL BRING REFRESHING, RESTORATION, HEALING AND FORGIVENESS.

Someone once told me prayer is humility in action. Are you someone who wants to do something great for God? PRAY! REVIVAL FOLLOWS PRAYER!

Luke 10:17
10:17 And the seventy returned (from serving, ministering, sharing the gospel) again with joy (REVIVAL), saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.

Service

As we serve others in our families, churches and communities, we will find that REVIVAL will follow.

Humility ISN'T self assertive but it is VERY JESUS assertive. A humble person will share the gospel with boldness and wisdom and REVIVAL will FOLLOW!

Unity

We read in the book of Acts chapters 1 and 2  that as the people gathered in unity, in one place, one accord, one mind God brought Revival! I believe that just as God brought revival through the 120 in the upper room and added three thousand to the church in one day on the day of Pentecost. He can and will do the same today REVIVAL will follow a group of humble people united to see the name of Jesus glorified not there church or there Pastor, But Jesus! Unity in the church requires humility but this type of humility will bring REVIVAL!

Forgiveness

Another way humility manifest itself through Christians is forgiveness. Humility will cause us to forgive those who have treated us wrong, or unfair. The Bible promises us that when we forgive others He will forgive us. ONCE AGAIN SOUNDS LIKE REVIVAL TO ME!

This truth of REVIVAL FOLLOWING HUMILITY is shown throughout the Bible. My question to you is will you humble yourself and begin walking as our humble Savior did while He was on this earth and gave His life on a cross so that we might have eternal life with Him?

I believe with all my heart that God will bring about that refreshing, restoration, and revival in your life if you will completely surrender to Him in Humility!
