Cultivating a Attitude of Gratitude!

Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 NLT

Father,  I pray that everyone who reads this post will begin cultivating a attitude of gratitude! Lord no matter how dark or bad the circumstances we are in, seem to be help us, to see Your goodness and faithfulness,  In the Name of Jesus Amen!

Five simple and practical ways  to become more thankful and cultivate a attitude of gratitude.

1. Think about the Lord. Think about good things. The Bible says as a man thinks so is he. When we set on our mind on God and the things of God. Our thinking and attitude begins to shift towards God and His character rather than the world and our circumstances. In my post Giving Thanks in Fiery Trials learn why we should give God thanks even in the midst of fiery trials.

And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.
Philippians 4:8‭-‬9 NLT

2. Expand your prayer life. God is concerned about our needs and He will answer our personal prayers. But when we step into another level of prayer when we begin interceding for others. As we expand our prayer life we will see God expand our capacity to be thankful. Intercession turns the focus off us unto God and His Kingdom. The Bible tells us when we seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness He will give us what we need. Beloved the heart of God and the Kingdom is intercession. Begin interceding and watch as God shows us and shows out in your life and those around you.

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6‭-‬7 NLT

3. Write down/ count your blessings. Many times just slowing down enough to reflect on everything God has done and who He is, will cause us to be thankful even in the fiery trials of life. Go find a pen and paper and begin writing.

Let all that I am praise the Lord ; may I never forget the good things he does for me.
Psalms 103:2 NLT

4. Repent. Wow, I know you probably did not expect that one. But it works. Repentance changes our way of thinking. Repentance changes our direction. If you have found yourself with a attitude of resentment, bitterness, and frustration, ask God to forgive you. 1 John 1:9 says, He is just and faithful to forgive and cleanse (change) you from all unrighteousness.

Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away. Then times of refreshment will come from the presence of the Lord.
Acts  3:19‭-‬20 NLT

5. Serve and Give to others. Jesus said He didn't come to be served but to serve. Beloved this is why He could face the death of the cross and consider it joy. When our focus shifts off our needs and onto others  we begin experiencing joy where we once faced sorrow.

Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back. ”
Luke 6:38 NLT

Give freely and become more wealthy; be stingy and lose everything. The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.
Proverbs 11:24‭-‬25 NLT
